Nice Story...
One of my colleagues called me to tell the following story:
"A high school student came to me asking for some work. I could not really employ him, so I gave him the book of Ladan Arissian to read (Lasers, the Power and Precision of Light). He came back the next week with a few questions, and the following week and the following... It was amazing that he was able to understand it all, with only a high school background.
After he finished the book, he was so excited about lasers that he enrolled in a real School of Optics (in Tucson, AZ)".
and I am really sure that several talents are lost like this...
